SUPPORT THE 'STOP THE DROP' CAMPAIGN.

The build up to Christmas is generally a quieter time of year, so why not take the opportunity to contact your customers and review their home or landlords’ insurance to ensure they’re adequately covered should the worst happen.

We’ve produced a customer flyer that provides helpful information for your customers, in what’s predicted to be another cold winter. The flyer outlines the risk of an Escape of Water during the winter months and provides tips that could prevent water leaks and actions to take in an emergency.

'STOP THE DROP' REPORT.

We've also published a report which looks extensively at preventing damage caused by Escape of Water. Home insurance claims from Escape of Water (EOW) damage in UK homes cost the insurance industry a colossal £730 million in 2010, this is nearly double the cost of burglary claims over the same period, which amounted to £370 million.

We’ve calculated that the increasing cost of Escape of Water claims currently adds £54, on average, to every household insurance policy in the UK. So, if the industry could work together to cut the number of claims, this could potentially result in a saving in claims costs. This saving may then help to maintain or reduce premiums for customers ensuring that home insurance cover continues to be recognised as good value for money.
