What are Unipass digital certificates?

In simple terms, a Digital Certificate is a small, encrypted file on your PC that is used to uniquely identify you. A Digital Certificate will replace the need to use a username and password when you login, making secure access to systems much simpler.

What are the benefits of using Unipass digital certificates?

  • There is no longer any need to remember a number of different usernames and passwords. One Digital Certificate is all you need to access most Internet resource in your industry.
  • It's free. UNIPASS digital certificates are free to end user customers. Product providers pay to rely on the service in much the same way as companies accepting credit cards.
  • It's easy. There is some technology involved, but using it is surprisingly easy, and there is no need for new hardware or software. You only need an Internet browser.
  • Improved security. Digital Certificates providing assurance as to whom you are dealing with.

How do I get a Unipass digital Certificate?

You will need to already be a registered user of Adviser Centre to own a digital certificate. Once registered, you will need to apply to the Unipass web site to obtain your Digital certificate.

Using a certificate with Legal & General

To use your digital certificate on Legal & Generals Adviser Centre, you will need to do the following:

  1. Register it (using the button below). This is a straightforward process that will allow Adviser Centre to automatically recognise your computer.
  2. Having registered, each subsequent time you login to Adviser Centre you will simply have to press the 'Login with Digital Certificate' button.

A Digital Certificate lasts for a year. You will be automatically reminded to renew your certificate with Unipass each time you login for the final month in which the certificate is valid.

If you wish to revoke your certificate (possibly as a result of a change of job, or if your computer is stolen) you should contact Unipass.
