The Pensions Technical team

Colin Batchelor ACII

Colin has spent over 35 years working in financial services, and has been responsible for industry-leading technical advisory services throughout his career. He’s had plenty of experience with changes to regulation and product innovation, and joined Legal & General in 2003. More recently, Colin has also assumed responsibility for the Legal & General Investment Help desk.

Tim Kehoe ACII DipPFS

Tim worked in administrative roles in financial services before taking up a pensions technical role in 1999. With over ten years’ experience, Tim plays a key role in our Pension Technical team.

Derek Houghton

Derek has worked within the insurance industry since 1985, specialising in pensions since 1996. Prior to joining the Pensions Technical Team in 2007, Derek had spent nearly ten years working within Legal & General's SSAS department.

Nicola Smith ACII

Nicola has worked at Legal & General for almost two decades, and with our Pensions Technical Service for nearly ten years. Between 1997 and 2001, she assisted the trustees with the administration of Legal & General's own staff final salary schemes. She was awarded a CII national prize for achieving the highest result in the 'Pensions Planning, Taxation and Administration' exam.

Sam Newton

Sam joined L&G in February 2011.  He has over eight years experience working in the financial services industry covering both the insurance sector working for product providers and the IFA and private banking sector.  Sam’s pensions experience covers both individual and corporate pension planning including pension wind-ups as well as technical and legislative issues around occupational schemes and personal pension plans.
