Immediate cover applies when we assume risk before the life assured has been fully underwritten and while the necessary evidence is being obtained.

Immediate cover is provided for up to 60 days from receipt of the application, completed direct debit mandate and a completed immediate cover request form.

In cases where we’ve been responsible for any delay, it may be possible to extend cover upon completion of a second request form.

The amount payable will be:

• the sum assured applied for, or
• £3,000,000 for life cover, or
• £1,500,000 for Business CIC plans, or
• £1,500,000 for personal loan/mortgage CIC plans, whichever is lower.

We won’t pay out if death occurs from:

• Suicide,
• Self inflicted injury,
• Hazardous pursuits or
• Whilst they are outside the UK.

Acceptance of immediate cover is not automatic or guaranteed and the cover may be refused at the underwriting stage.

In the event of a claim we’ll only pay out on one of the following, accidental death benefit, free life cover, immediate cover or the policy applied for, not on all four.

We can also provide immediate life cover for a client if life cover is required urgently.
