TV remotes 'may boost pension management'.

22 February 2012

People could manage their pensions via the touch of a remote control button in the future, a think-tank has speculated.

The Future Foundation argued that providing consumers with more flexible ways to manage their pension pots could encourage them to put away more money for when they stop working.

Its report went on to suggest that people should be able to manage their pension pots through a wide variety of mediums, including smartphones, ATMs and interactive services via television remotes.

For example, people could access an app on their smartphone to determine how much their pension is worth at any given time. Meanwhile, ATMs could be used to deposit cheques and cash into a pension account or transfer funds.

A survey recently revealed that 32% of Britons would welcome the chance to deposit cash into their pension via an ATM.
