Our buildings cover gives your customer peace of mind against loss or damage caused by the major risks such as fire, theft, subsidence and flood.

Rebuilding cost cover

  • Standard option – as long as your customer's home has no more than five bedrooms and meets certain criteria (please refer to the key features for full details of the criteria)


  • Select option is available if standard cover is not suitable
  • up to £800,000
  • Our generous rebuilding cost limit will be more than adequate for most properties
  • Lets your customer tailor the policy to suit their requirements.
Loss or damage caused by fire, storms, floods, falling trees, theft, attempted theft, malicious acts of vandalism
Loss or damage caused by subsidence, heave or landslip
Cost of alternative accommodation should your customers home becomes uninhabitable due to an insured event
  • Up to £50,000
Ask your customer what would happen if their home was flooded and uninhabitable? Could they afford to pay for somewhere else to live? Use recent floods as an example where some people have been forced to move out of their homes.
Accidental damage to underground pipes and cables serving your home
Trace and access cover – covers the cost of tracing leaked water and oil and repairing damage caused by the investigations
  • Up to £5,000
What would happen if your customer had a leak but didn’t know where it was coming from and had to tear down a wall or ceiling? Rainbow would cover the cost of any damage caused when trying to find the leak.
24 hour domestic emergency helpline
If your customer has a blocked drain or burst pipe, we will locate the nearest tradesman and advise costs..
Legal helpline – for expert advice on all kinds of domestic legal problems, your customer can call our 24 hour helpline.
Home emergency cover – for call out charges and parts for certain emergency repairs
  • Up to £500
A home emergency such as a burst pipe or break in can be stressful experience, knowing that they will be covered for up to £500 should they have to call out a tradesman can provide your customers some peace of mind.

What isn't covered?

  • The first £100 of each claim (or £250 in the event of escape of water and £1,000 in the case of subsidence, heave or landslip)
  • Maintenance, wear and tear or damage that happens gradually over a period of time such as damp or rot
  • Storm or flood damage to fences, gates, hedges, cantilever car-ports, canopies and awnings, and to any felt roof where the felt is more than 10 years old
  • Loss or damage caused by malicious acts, vandalism, theft, escape of water, leakage of oil, breakage of glass or sanitaryware or frost if your customers home will be unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days. There is no cover from the first day the home is not lived in.
