Home insurance (buildings and contents)
Exclusions
There are some exclusions you should know about. For example:
- Damage to fences, gates and hedges caused by storm or flood
- Loss or damage to contents caused by malicious acts, theft, escape of water or leakage of oil if the home has been left empty for more than 40 days when the loss or damage happens
- Theft of personal possessions from an unattended vehicle unless it is completely concealed in a glove compartment, locked luggage compartment or locked boot
- Claims involving divorce and matrimonial matters under Family Legal Protection.
- The full list of exclusions is printed in the Home Insurance Policy (PDF 1.1MB) document which should be read before you buy.
You need to bear in mind that:
- If you fail to pay your premiums you will no longer be covered.
- You must give us accurate information when you apply for your policy or you could invalidate it.
- You will have to pay the first £50 of every claim.
- For subsidence claims under buildings, you will have to pay the first £1,000 of every claim.
Before you decide to buy this Home Insurance, you must read the Home Insurance Policy Key Features (PDF 60KB) document and the Home Insurance Policy (PDF 1.1MB) document detailing cover, terms, exceptions and conditions.
