Investment Expertise.

In the current market conditions

Legal & General is here for the long term. We’ve been managing our clients’ money for generations – and our size helps us in many ways. We’re a large financial services provider, which means you benefit from the experience of a large number of investment experts.

This means we have a significant level of influence in the way these companies operate. However, it’s not all about size and heritage. We also advocate responsible investing, meaning our fund managers take a balanced approach to risk that can make your investments work harder. Common sense and creating long-term value for your investments are equally important to us.

Can I have a valuation?
Yes, valuations are available from our customer helpline. If you have signed up to the My Account service, you can also look up your valuation on-line. We value our funds each business day and each fund has a valuation time. For most funds this is at 12pm, but some funds are valued at 3pm. Any valuation you are given will be based on the most recent available price.

0370 050 0955 - Calls to these numbers will not exceed your fixed line or mobile phone provider's national rate and will be included in any inclusive free minute plan or discount scheme you may have with your telephone provider. Call charges will vary between telephone providers. These numbers may not be available from outside the UK. Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.00pm. We may record and monitor calls.
Why do some funds have a 3pm valuation point?

The majority of our funds are based around UK or European investments and a 12pm valuation point provides an accurate reflection of their value. However, some funds have high exposure to US assets and valuing them at 12pm would be based on a closed market as US markets do not open until 2pm UK time. Valuing these funds at 3pm allows for a more accurate reflection of their value.

If I deal today will the valuation go up or down?
We value our funds daily. Each fund has a valuation time. For most funds this is 12pm, but some funds are valued at 3pm. The valuation will be based on the value of the funds assets at that time.
The price you will get will depend on how the value of the fund's portfolio of assets has changed between the last valuation point and the valuation point used for any deal you place. We cannot predict what a fund’s price will be in advance of the valuation point.
Can you give me the price I can deal at today?
No. When you give us an instruction to sell your units back to us, you will get the price calculated at the next valuation point. This is known as forward pricing.
So if your fund has a valuation point of 12pm, if you give us an instruction at 10am then you will get a price calculated at noon based on the value of the fund's investments at that time. If you give us an instruction at 1pm, you would get the price calculated at 12pm tomorrow.
Given that markets have fallen in the last week is now a good time to buy or sell?
Legal & General Investments cannot give financial advice and would recommend speaking to your financial adviser if you have one.
You should remember that stocks and shares investments should be regarded as medium to long-term (that is five to ten years) investments and periods of uncertainty or large changes in value are a historic feature of stock markets. Any losses based on current unit prices are not realised until the investment is sold and converted back to cash. However, while still invested, unit prices and subsequently valuations may recover. Additionally, if you were to invest at a time when stock markets are low, if markets were to rise your valuation would also increase.
Rather than buying or selling, you may also want to consider switching to another fund in our range.

Please remember the value of your investment may go down as well as up and is not guaranteed. You may get back less than you invest.
