Life insurance - no medical?
I applied for life insurance and no medical was required?
This is correct in certain circumstances. We will explain in more detail below.
Do we always ask for a medical examination for life insurance?
The fact is that sometimes, no medical is required when applying for our life insurance. Applying for life insurance involves answering questions about your circumstances so we can give you a more accurate quote.
The premium we quote you is affected by a number of factors. The main ones are your age, sex, occupation, smoker status, health, the level of cover you need and type of contract that you choose. Normally, the older you are the higher the premium. Your individual height, weight, medical history and lifestyle are all assessed.
Based on this we decide if a medical is required. In some cases no medical is required if you are in good health and accepted on our standard life insurance terms. However, for example, if you're looking to take out a policy with a large sum assured then it's possible that a medical will be required. Sometimes, a medical examination can give you greater protection, as a medical practitioner would have verified some of your medical circumstances.
Is it important that I answer correctly?
If you apply for a policy there will be some medical questions that you will be required to answer, regarding your medical history. It's vitally important that you are as accurate as possible when applying. If you die because of a pre-existing medical condition that you didn’t divulge when applying, then your insurance policy might be void and the policy will not pay out.
