With Profits Bonds
An investment bond is a single premium investment product that allows you to invest for growth, take regular withdrawals to provide a steady stream of income or a combination of the two. The minimum investment is usually £5000.
Investments in With Profits are designed as medium to long term investments of at least five years, ideally longer.
The money paid into a With Profits Bond is invested in a mix of assets that comprises UK and international shares, fixed interest securities and UK commercial property. While everyone is invested together in With Profits, different investors have different combinations of assets depending on the type of plan they have.
What you get back will depend on the investment performance of the assets in the investment mix. The investment return you receive is applied as bonuses and is not guaranteed. You could get back less than your original investment.
When you take cash from your bond, the amount we pay you may be reduced by the application of a market value reduction (PDF 208KB) or may be increased by a terminal bonus to ensure fairness between those who leave and those who remain invested.
