Here are some frequently asked questions about getting started using our Online Quote and Buy system.  



New to Legal & General

I am new to Legal & General how do I get started?

You’ll need an agency agreement and agency number

  • If you are a member of a network or a larger firm,  there is probably an established contact with Legal & General or even a master agency already set up. Your head office should be able to help you get a sub-agency number.
  • If you are already authorised you should apply directly to Legal & General. Find out more about doing business with us.
Agency number

Do I need an agency number?

Yes. If you are new to Legal & General you will need to apply for an agency number.

  • If you are a member or a network or a larger firm, check with your head office as there is probably already an established contact with Legal & General or even a master agency already set up. They should be able to help you get a sub-agency number.
  • If you are directly authorised you should apply directly to Legal & General. Find out more about doing business with us.
Registration for online services

Do I need to register separately for your online services?

Yes. Once you have a Legal & General agency number, you need to register to take advantage of our of our eServices (including Group Protection Online Quote and Buy). Find out how to register for our eServices.

Password for online services
How do I create, manage or reset my password for online services? As part of the online registration process, you’ll be asked to create a password of your choice.  The format criteria for an acceptable password are as follows:
  • between 7 and 12 characters (letters and numbers only),
  • must include a mixture of letters and numbers,
  • must end with a letter.

Sequential* characters are not allowed (* this includes alphabetical sequences (eg abcd), numerical sequences (eg 1234) or sequences on the standard keyboard (eg QWERTY)).

Unipass certificate
I have a Unipass certificate can I use that to access Group Protection Online Quote and Buy? Yes. As part of the online registration to get access to Group Protection Online Quote and Buy, you can enter your UNIPASS certificate details.  If you already have access to Group Protection Online Quote and Buy, you can associate your UNIPASS digital certificate to it. Sharing agency numbers with colleagues

I share an agency number with colleagues, but we’ve each been given our own Group Protection Online Quote and Buy username and password.  Can we track and manage each other’s cases? Yes. In Group Protection Online Quote and Buy, your access is not restricted to only those cases submitted using your log on details. You can view and manage all cases submitted under your agency number.  The agent name on the application is determined by the log on details of who originally created it and cannot be changed.

Staff members joining

A new member of staff has joined my adviser firm.  Can I add them to my existing Group Protection Online Quote and Buy access?

The new member of staff should register online themselves and obtain their own username and password. Register

Staff members leaving

A member of staff has left my adviser firm.  Can I close down their Group Protection Online Quote and Buy access, but still complete what they’ve started?

If you share an agency number with the person who has left, you can continue to manage the application through to completion.
 
However, when someone leaves, they shouldn’t pass on their login details and password. They should be revoked.  You can't revoke someone’s access yourself online, but our Registration Team can do it for you.  Please contact them on 0370 050 0274 (option 2)

Accessing Online Quote and Buy

How do I access Group Protection Online Quote and Buy?

You can do this from the Quote and Apply button, found on the right side of the web page under the 'search' box.  Select Group Protection quote and apply in the dropdown menu. 

Adviser Centre access

I already have access to Adviser Centre online services - do I need to register again to use Group Protection Online Quote and Buy?

No. You can use Group Protection Online Quote and Buy immediately.  You can access the system using the same user details you have for the Adviser Centre.  If you do not have Adviser Centre access you will need to register to be able to use Group Protection Online Quote and Buy.
