Today, the government has announced a comprehensive review of how to make auto-enrolment work.
A team of three independent experts have been selected to carry out the review. We’re delighted to confirm that they include Legal & General’s Pensions Strategy Director, Adrian Boulding.
We have contributed to every stage of the consultation from the opening of Lord Turner's Pension Commission to the creation of NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) and are pleased to continue that contribution in the current review. Our involvement in the current review once again puts us at the heart of defining policy and is a ringing endorsement of our expertise in the field of retirement provision.
Commenting on the review, our Chief Executive Tim Breedon said:
“The plans of the previous government need to be reviewed in light of the current, strained fiscal circumstances. It is imperative that the outcome of this review offers fair and good value to consumers, businesses and the Exchequer.
"We are pleased to second our Pensions Strategy Director to this review. My advice to him will be to encourage a short and sharp review with a decisive outcome as it is imperative that the debate on pensions moves forward now.”
Adrian and his colleagues are due to report back to the government in the autumn.
