Award winning protection

Group Critical Illness Cover pays a tax free lump to a member, after a survival period,  if they suffer from or undergo a specified insured condition. We can help you provide protection benefit to suit your budgets. Protection cover is quick and easy to set up or if you are transferring to us from another insurer, we’ll make sure the process is as seamless as possible.

Normally, a minimum of 50 members is needed to first set up the policy.

Cover for employeesUp to £500,000 maximum benefit level or five times scheme earnings (whichever is less).

Conditions under our core option are standard with all policies. You can also choose to take up our additional option, which will provide cover for a further 26 conditions.

Cover for
non-employees
Cover is included for the members child(ren) and can be taken out to cover the members spouse or registered civil partner.

Children
We automatically provide cover for children of 25% of the member's benefit or £20,000, whichever is less. There’s no limit to the number of children who can be covered.

Spouse or Registered Civil Partner
Spouses or registered civil partners can be covered up to the lesser of £150,000 and the amount covering the member.
What's not coveredWe only cover the critical conditions we define in our policy. Cover is also subject to pre-existing and related conditions exclusions. You can read more about these in the technical guide or here.
Switching to usSwitching from another insurer to us is quick and easy. We’ll normally provide cover on the same basis for existing members, which means we can match the previous insurer’s benefit level and terms. The cost may not necessarily be the same and can go up.
Medical underwritingA free limit of up to £500,000. This should mean fewer requests for medical evidence. If we ask for medical evidence, our tele-interview service is available to help members fill in health questions over the phone.
Claims processFast claims process – lump sum payments are made direct to the employer as soon as a claim is accepted. We aim for a turnaround time of five days from receiving all the required completed forms and evidence.
Employee Assistance ProgrammeWe’re the only provider to provide a free telephone based Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) as standard for all our Group Critical Illness scheme members. This includes bereavement counselling, financial and legal support. Promotional literature is available. 
Complete solutionGroup Critical Illness Cover is one of the key group protection products we provide. We can help you develop your employee benefits package to include Group Income Protection and Group Life Assurance Benefits within budget to suit your needs.

You need to know

We’ll continue to provide cover and pay any valid claims as long as premiums are paid and the terms are met. Policy terms will be unique to each business and there are some circumstances where we won’t provide cover. You can read more about the benefits and exclusions here or in our technical guide.
