Important information about our general insurance quote validity periods

As you may already be aware, in January 2020, Legal & General Insurance Limited (renamed Fairmead Insurance Limited) was bought by Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Limited (LV=GI). From Q1 2022 we’ll begin to transition our Intermediary business over to LV=GI.

As part of our preparation to ensure a smooth transition, we need to let you know some important information in relation to the quote validity periods and start dates for our Home and Landlord’s Insurance products.

Here's what you need to know:

Home Insurance

  • All home insurance quotes will expire on the system on 28 February 2022 if not submitted to us with a start date on or before this date.
  • You’ll be able to access the new Home Insurance SmartQuote proposition from LV= GI earlier in February enabling you access to the new, improved LV= GI Home Insurance products for your clients. The current SmartQuote system will be decommissioned on 28 February 2022.
  • If any of your clients receive a quote before 28 February 2022 but need a start date up until 27 August 2022, please follow the steps below. We’ll endeavour to help you place as much business as we can to support you through the transition.
    • Please requote the risk for your client using the new LV= GI Intermediary Portal (please look out for more information on how to access this over the coming months).
    • If the price is lower and your customer meets the new underwriting terms, please go ahead and complete the new LV= GI policy for your client.
    • If the new price is higher, we’ll honour the original price quoted, subject to your client being able to meet the new LV= GI underwriting terms. Please call us on 0370 900 8829 to discuss these cases or if you have any queries. Lines are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Call charges will vary and calls may be recorded.

Landlord’s Insurance

  • All Landlord’s Insurance quotes will expire in GI Connect on 28 February 2022 if not submitted to us with a start date on or before this date.
  • You’ll be able to access the new Landlord’s Insurance proposition from LV= GI earlier in February enabling you access to the new product for your clients. The current GI Connect system will be decommissioned on 28 February 2022.
  • If any of your clients receive a quote before 28 February 2022 but need a start date up until 30 April 2022, please follow the steps below. We’ll endeavour to help you place as much business as we can to support you through the transition.
    • Please requote the risk for your client using the new LV= GI Intermediary Portal (please look out for more information on how to access this over the coming months).
    • If the price is lower and your customer meets the new underwriting terms, please go ahead and complete the new LV= GI policy for your client.
    • If the new price is higher, we’ll honour the original price quoted, subject to your client being able to meet the new LV= GI underwriting terms.
