You can reassure clients who have children, or intend to, that they can be covered under the parent’s policy at no extra cost. We also recognise that parents or potential parents may want more cover for their children.

That’s why we have further enhanced our cover by reducing the survival period from 14 days to 10, covering children from 30 days old until their 22nd birthday and increasing Children’s Funeral Benefit to £5,000.

We also offer enhanced cover which you can add for an additional cost. Customers who select Children’s Critical Illness Extra will benefit from:

  • Cover for the relevant child from birth
  • Cover for an unlimited number of relevant children
  • 12 new additional critical illnesses covered
  • Children’s Terminal Illness Cover

If the relevant child is diagnosed with one of our specified critical illnesses, a pay-out of £25,000 (or 50% of the sum assured, whichever is lower) or 60 times the amount of your monthly benefit up to a maximum of £25,000 could provide the financial support needed to care for them at home, take leave from work, or modify the home.

Don’t forget, our comprehensive children’s cover already includes:

  • Children’s Accident Hospitalisation Benefit
  • Family Accommodation Benefit
  • Childcare Benefit

Meet Matt

A self-employed mortgage and protection adviser, talks about the impact on his family when his son Lewis was diagnosed with Leukaemia at 3 years old. Legal & General paid out on both his and his wife’s Children’s Critical Illness Benefit, helping Matt keep the family home and focus on Lewis’ recovery. We were glad to be able to help at a time when he needed it most.
