New and improved psychological wellbeing service available from May 2016

Mental health has been the main reason for absence notifications and claims on our Group Income Protection policy in recent years. Our comprehensive support which includes early intervention and funded rehabilitation is already very successful.  The new and improved services we’re introducing in May will help make our service even more effective.

Our Group Income Protection already provides comprehensive support to insured employees with mental health problems.

The latest available figures show that 4 out of 5 people are able to return to work within the deferred period.

We’re constantly exploring ways to improve our services and in May will introduce significant improvements to the support we provide.

New provider of psychological wellbeing services

Following a thorough market review we’ve selected CBT Clinics as our new provider of psychological wellbeing services from May 2016.

We chose CBT Clinics for its experience, clinical expertise and innovative approach to delivering a quality service.

They are an award-winning psychological assessment and treatment provider with a strong ‘return to work’ focus.

We believe our new partnership with them is the best possible way to support those who suffer from mental health issues.

And we’re sure the employers we work with will appreciate the many benefits of this new service, especially the exciting digital features.

A more flexible and bespoke service

We’ll be using some of the latest digital health technology to offer people a more flexible and bespoke service, coupled with evidence-based psychological therapy.

A key part of the new model will be to give insured employees a choice of therapy methods:

  • Face to face consultations
  • Telephone consultations
  • Secure video conferencing

This flexibility will make it easier for people to get the support they need quickly and at a place convenient to them.

New 12-month relapse prevention program

We’re boosting our support for employees on their return to work by giving them access to an online suite of information, modules and resources; all available 24 hours a day for 12 months.

Legal & General is the first insurer to work with CBT Clinics on this basis. Together we’ve developed a broad, flexible and modern approach to rehabilitation, offering great benefit to both employee and employer.
