Legal & General signs the 'Woman in Finance' Charter

This charter aims to improve gender diversity and increase the number of women in senior leadership positions across the financial services sector.

Legal & General are proud to announce that they have signed the 'Women in Finance Charter' which aims to improve gender diversity and increase the number of women in senior leadership positions across the financial services sector.

The Charter was launched by HM Treasury following recommendations made by Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Chief Executive of Virgin Money, who led a review into the representation of women in senior leadership roles in Financial Services.

Legal & General are putting in place a number of initiatives to increase the number of women in senior positions across their business including:-

Setting targets - Their aim is to increase the number of women in senior grades from 35% to 40% by the end of 2017.

Specific focus on recruitment - Ensuring there is a minimum of one woman on every shortlist and implementing diverse interview panels which will help widen the talent pool and ensure that Legal & General is an attractive employer to women. Recruitment agencies and head-hunters will work closely with Legal & General to ensure they are able to achieve diverse shortlists and increasing and maintaining diverse networks.

Inspirational Role Models - Within Legal & General there are a number of strong female leaders who are involved in talent development programmes, demonstrating how it is possible to achieve career ambitions and supporting events, mentoring and sponsorship of junior talent.
