Why are you no longer providing home insurance?
Legal & General Insurance Limited, now known as Fairmead Insurance Limited, was bought by LV= in January 2020. As a result, the Legal & General Group no longer provide home insurance policies. Your existing policy remains in place with Legal & General Insurance Limited (renamed Fairmead Insurance Limited), until you receive your LV= renewal.
Legal & General Group are continuing to focus on other areas of their business, such as Investments, Pensions and Life Cover.
Who is LV=?
LV= General Insurance is a leading insurance business offering a range of general insurance products. They’re one of the UK's largest personal lines insurers, with more than 7 million customers and 4,000 employees. LV= home insurance is both Which? Recommended and Defaqto 5 Star rated.
Will my policy cover or limit change?
LV= will clearly outline any improvements or changes in your cover and limits when you receive your LV= renewal quote. Please read through your renewal quote and make sure it still meets your needs.
There will be no changes to your current policy until it ends.
Does this affect other Legal & General Group services, such as Investments, Retirement, Life Cover or Mortgages?
No, the changes only relate to home and landlord insurance. Any other policies, products or services that you have with the Legal & General Group are not affected.
How do I renew with LV=?
You will receive a renewal quote, one month before your policy is due to end.
When your renewal quote arrives, it will include all the information on how to renew with LV=, which can be done either online or by calling the phone number on your LV= renewal documents.
Please check your renewal quote carefully and if you need to make any changes to your policy or to pay for your policy simply get in touch using the phone number on your quote.
What happens if I want to make any changes to my current policy before my renewal date?
Do I need to set up a new Direct Debit, or contact my bank as part of the renewal?
You don’t need to set up a new Direct Debit. When your policy renews with LV=, the only change you’ll notice is that LV= will collect your Direct Debits and the payment reference will appear as “LVIC” on your Bank/Building Society statement.
Will the amount I pay change?
As usual with a renewal quote, your price can go up, down or sometimes stay the same depending on your current circumstances. When you receive your quote, please check your documents carefully to make sure you’re aware of any changes to the amount you’ll pay.

Will LV= have the details about the claims I have made?
Yes, LV= will have access to your previous claims information.

What if I do not want LV= to have access to my details?
LV= has access to your details to make sure you receive the option to renew your policy ensuring your home continues to be covered. If you don’t wish to renew, simply get in touch with LV= to let them know, and they’ll then cancel your renewal. However, even if you decline to renew your policy with LV=, LV= will still have access to records relating to your previous policy as LV= are under a legal obligation to retain records relating to previously provided home insurance policies with us, but you will no longer be a LV= customer.
What if I want to stay with Legal & General?

What if I do not want to insure my home with LV=?
If you choose not to continue with cover from LV= you should call the number on your renewal documents.
Your current policy will end on the date of your renewal and your home will no longer be covered. This means from this date all cover will stop.
How will my personal data be protected?
During this change, Legal & General Insurance Limited (renamed Fairmead Insurance Limited) and LV= have prioritised the security and management of your personal information.

It is important to note that, as an insurer, even if you do not wish to renew your home insurance policy with LV=, we will retain a legal obligation to maintain a record of the Insurance cover we have sold and, as such, LV= will maintain an archive of your previous policy(s) in the event of any queries in this respect.
