We're changing but your cover won’t
In May 2019 Legal & General announced the sale of its General Insurance business. So from 1st January 2020, Legal & General Insurance will be renamed Fairmead Insurance Limited and become part of the Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Group (LV=GI).
You don’t need to worry, your insurance cover will stay exactly the same. You’ll still see the Legal & General umbrella logo being used and the only change is that your policy will now be underwritten and provided by Fairmead Insurance Limited. If you need to claim, you can still do so in the usual way.
We're writing to all our customers who currently have monthly direct debit payments set up with us to let them know about this change. If you pay annually, then your renewal letter or email will contain information about the change in underwriter and provider of your insurance product.
Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Group is a subsidiary of Allianz Holdings plc. They’re more commonly known as LV= and look after the car, home, landlord, pet and travel insurance needs of over 5.5 million customers. They were proud to be named the Which? Insurance Provider of the Year 2019.
Your Legal & General Insurance policy documents won’t be replaced because of this change, so it’s important you keep hold of them, in case you need to submit a claim.
From 2020, our Home and Pet Insurance will be underwritten and provided by Fairmead Insurance Limited (part of LV=GI), including any new policies sold. You can still contact us and claim in exactly the same way or visit this website for information about our products. When you contact us, you will be speaking to the same people, but we’re now owned by LV= General Insurance.
