Assessment criteria
We use quantitative and qualitative measures, drawing on independent data providers and our pioneering climate modelling. We have mapped circa 1000 companies globally in ‘climate-critical’ sectors against key indicators and assessed them under a ‘traffic light’ system.
Our qualitative assessment is based on in-depth research on the net zero challenge for each of the key sectors. Reflecting the realities and possibilities that exist in the real economy, we centre our engagement on companies which hold the key to unlocking the net zero potential for their respective sectors. We aim to help them set the bar for other companies to follow.
Our engagement is escalated depending on the successes and hurdles. Those companies who fail to demonstrate adequate climate commitments will be held accountable through our votes and we will divest from their securities within some of our funds. We will also celebrate the successes we see in the companies. Promoting the positive and sanctioning the negative - that’s what we call consequences
