It's time to talk about mental health
Creating an open and supportive workplace is key to giving employees the confidence to talk about their mental health. By removing the stigmas, employees are much more likely to seek help if they’re experiencing any mental health issues.
Getting the conversation started is essential and at Legal & General, we have a range of resources to help employers break down the barriers around mental health.
As well as an employee assistance programme, employees can also use Health Assured’s My Healthy Advantage app, which gives them access to a range of support including mental health information and four week plans to help make lifestyle changes.
Steve Griffiths, Managing Director for UK protection at Legal & General and keynote speaker at the Not A Red Card Forum 2019, discussed the positive impact that being open and talking about mental health in the workplace can have: “There’s still more to do, but we’re moving more into the phase of action now rather than awareness.”
