Staging dates.

Staging dates were the dates on which employers had to start enrolling employees into workplace pension schemes. Staging started in 2012 with the larger employers first and continued until 2018, by which time companies of all sizes should have complied.

From 1 October 2017 all new employers have a legal duty for automatic enrolment to begin on the day their first member of staff starts work. This is known as the duties start date and it cannot be changed.
