Can you afford for your pension pot to go down in value?

There could be a risk to the amount you invest:

  • You may not get back as much as you put in.
  • Investments generally go down and up in value, some types more than others. – For example, share prices generally change daily.
  • If you take any money out, less is left to grow, so it may be less likely that you’ll achieve your goals

You can view information about all the funds available to your scheme by logging into Manage Your Account.

How often will you review your investment choices?

Please note Legal & General cannot provide financial advice. If you want help to make your own investment choices, you should speak to a financial adviser. You can find one in your local area at unbiased.co.ukOpens in new tab. Financial advisers usually charge a fee for their services, but it will be personal to you and your circumstances.

How many funds can I invest in?

You can either choose from one or more of four investment pathways, and we’ll invest your pension for you in a way that supports your choice, or you can choose your own funds. If you choose your own funds, you can invest in as many of the funds as you wish and in whatever proportions you want. There are a number of funds to choose from and you’ll find a list on Investment Range.

Who decides which investment options are available?

The Trustees of the plan have chosen these funds. The Trustees will review the selection from time to time. In the future, this could mean that certain investments will be removed or new ones added.

Who manages the funds?

All the funds are managed by professional fund managers. If you choose to invest in a fund that is not managed by Legal & General, then you need to be aware that you will still be buying units in a Legal & General fund. Legal & General will then use the money you contribute to buy units in the manager’s own fund (called the ‘authorised fund’).

How do I change my investments?

You can change the funds your pension pot is invested in at any time and as often as you want. There is currently no charge for this. This may, however, change. You can do this calling Legal & General on 0345 070 8686Opens in new tab. Call charges will vary. Legal & General may record and monitor calls. You can change the way in which your pension savings are invested at any time.

ABI sectors are defined by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). The sectors are a way of grouping funds with similar characteristics, so they are easier to compare.
