Suburban Build to Rent

David is Manging Director of the Legal & General Suburban Build to Rent business, (SBTR) responsible for helping to create and deliver the SBTR strategy, originate and structure partnerships and for building and managing the team. He has extensive residential real estate investment, development and management experience and originally joined Legal & General Capital as Senior Investment Manager within the Principal Investing/Housing team, managing Legal & General Capital’s nationwide investments into the urban Build to Rent sector within Legal & General Investment Management business.

Prior to the role, he was a Director at Rowan Asset Management and a Board Director of Taylor Wimpey Cavendish Holdings, a joint venture regional housebuilding division. He holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, MSc from Cass Business School, MA from the University of Edinburgh and is a Member of the RICS.

Jane joined the Legal & General Suburban Build to Rent business (SBTR) in 2021 from the leading construction and development company, Durkan Group, where she was Head of Corporate Finance. At Durkan she was responsible for the delivery of debt and equity finance for all their housing developments as well the group strategic plan and treasury function.

Prior roles included Corporate Finance Director at Mill Group, various corporate banking roles across healthcare and real estate at Lloyds. She was also an Associate Director at CBRE and held leading analytical roles at Peabody Trust. Jane was originally trained as a senior auditor at Deloitte LLP. She is a chartered accountant and holds a degree in business economics from Durham University.

Tom joins the Legal & General Suburban Build to Rent business (SBTR) in 2021 from Grainger PLC where he is National Acquisitions Director. Tom has 17 years’ experience in the UK residential property market, specialising in residential investment and development. He is part of the Residential Special Interest Group at the Investment Property Forum.

Prior to joining Grainger, Tom was at LaSalle Investment Management for 10 years, leading investment activity in the PRS/BTR sector, initially as Residential Transactions Director and latterly as Residential Fund Manager. Tom built up the assets under management to comprise a portfolio of 1,000 completed and income producing homes with a further 1,000 in the development pipeline. Tom started his career as a Chartered Surveyor at Montague Evans in 2002 where he become an Associate Member of RICS. Tom holds a degree in Law degree from Durham and a land management degree from Reading University.

Catherine joins the Legal & General Suburban Build to Rent business (SBTR) from Savills in 2021 where she is a residential portfolio Director. She was been in leading operational roles in property management since the late 2000s, specialising in the built to rent sector.

Since joining Savills in 2013, Catherine has transitioned from central London estate portfolio management into the growing build to rent sector. Catherine and her team are responsible for the mobilisation, delivery and management of build to rent assets across the country for leading PRS clients. Catherine has extensive experience in residential portfolio management, providing consultancy and management services and holds a BA in Management Studies from the University of Leeds.
