Online courses

Created in partnership with The Open University and supported by the Department for Work and Pensions, we've created free, online courses open to everybody.

The Retirement Planning Made Easy focuses on pensions and retirement. The learning outcomes for this course are to enable individuals to:

  • Estimate how much money you'll need in retirement.
  • Understand how pensions – including the state pension – work and how much income they will offer in retirement.
  • Understand the different options for taking money from pension pots and the pros and cons of each choice.
  • Understand the options available should pension income not be enough to match your plans and lifestyle in retirement.
  • Understand how events such as divorce and bereavement can impact your retirement finances and learn how to deal with them.

Midlife MOT covers broader financial, physical and mental wellbeing considerations. The learning outcomes for this course are to enable individuals to:

  • Review your finances, understand how to improve your current position and know what retirement income you'll need.
  • Look at your work life and create a plan for any changes you might want to make for the future.
  • Assess your personal wellbeing and understand any issues that may need to be addressed.

These sessions are intended for educational purposes and are not financial advice, if you feel you need to speak to an independent financial adviser you can visit unbiased.co.uk.
