Apply for Stakeholder pensions for individuals online
You can apply for a Stakeholder Personal Pension online. Before you do, you must read, and ensure you understand, the Key Features and Choosing your investment fund documents, listed under Key documents in the right hand menu. You should also either store them on your PC or print them off for future reference.
We also recommend that you read the Financial Services Authority's Decision Trees. This is an interactive online service designed to help you make sure that a stakeholder pension is right for you.
This online application should take 20-30 minutes to complete.
To apply online
- You'll need to have ready:
- details of your employment if you're working, including your employer's address and the date your employment started;
- your National Insurance number, which you can find on your payslip, your P60 or your National Insurance number card; and
- the details of the account from which you wish to pay your contributions.
- Fill in your personal details.
- Confirm your plan details, including how much you want to put in and whether your employer is contributing.
- Select your fund(s).
- Read and make sure you understand the Declaration.
- Confirm your bank details in order to set up payment by Direct Debit (for regular contributions only). If you choose to pay a single contribution, you will need to send us a cheque. We will send you a form to complete and for you to attach your cheque to. Please make your cheque payable to Legal & General Assurance Society Limited.
- Submit your application.
Please note that this application is only for investing new contributions into a plan. If you want to transfer money from a pension plan with another provider, please telephone 0845 0706484. Call charges will vary. We may record and monitor calls.
Your right to change your mind
After we have accepted your application, we will send you a notice of your right to cancel, which we must send you by law. We then give you 30 days to change your mind about starting the plan. If you do change your mind, you need to send the notice back to us at:
Legal & General Assurance Society Limited
City Park
The Droveway
Hove
BN3 7PY
We will then cancel the plan. If there has been a fall in the investment value of the contract during the period prior to receipt of your instructions, the refund may reflect this.
If you don't take this opportunity to cancel, but decide you want to do so at a later stage, you cannot get any money back until you take your benefits.
On this website, we're not seeking to give you advice. It's up to you to decide if this Stakeholder pension is suitable for you. If you're unsure, contact us for advice using the link on the right-hand menu.
Please note that Legal & General only advises on its own life assurance and investment products.
