Defined Benefit (DB) pensions are a type of pension plan where the benefits you receive each year are set. This means that your yearly pension amount is based on your work history with your employer and the rules of your pension scheme rather than contributions you’ve made into your pension pot.
Sometimes your DB pension will be calculated from your final salary, and sometimes it's based on an average of your salary over your career.
