This isn't for me or if you're leaving IBM

We hope that looking around this website has given you a really good idea of the benefits of staying in IBM Pension Plan. However, it might not be right for everyone.

Leaving the Plan

If it’s not right for you or you're leaving IBM, you can choose to stop payments and leave the Plan. No further payments will be made into the Plan by you or IBM. You need to complete a form available from PTComms@UK.ibm.com and you must give 1 month’s notice from the 5th of the month.

Moving your pension savings to another provider

You can also transfer the value of your plan to another Registered Pension Scheme. If you are an active member, you will first need to cease contributing into the Plan in order to do this. We don’t charge or apply a penalty if you choose to move away from the Plan. However your new pension provider might charge a fee for the transfer.

We always recommend that you seek independent financial advice before proceeding. To find an adviser in your local area visit Choosing a financial adviser | MoneyHelper. Advisers usually charge for their services.

How do I move my funds to another provider?

If you wish to transfer your pension plan to another pension provider, you’ll need to complete a Transfer form. Your new provider will tell you which forms will need to be filled in.

Should you wish to discuss this further, please contact us on 0345 675 0017 between 8.30am – 7pm, Monday to Friday.

Call charges will vary. We may record and monitor calls.

Be scam smart

Pension scams are on the increase and your pension can be lost in moments. Scammers can look and sound credible no matter how savvy you are, so be aware of the warning signs.

Scam tactics often include contact out of the blue, promises of high/guaranteed returns, free pension reviews, early access to your pension and pressure to act quickly. To find out more about how pension scams work, how to avoid them and what to do if you suspect a scam, please read the ScamSmart leaflet (PDF) and visit Financial Conduct Authority’s ‘ScamSmart’ website
