Gary Smith,

Gary was appointed to the IGC in September 2026.

Gary has over 35 years’ experience in Pensions and Investments. Over that time, he has held various senior leadership roles across the provider, investment management and consultancy sectors, working with and advising some of the UK’s largest pension schemes.

His experience includes being Head of DC at Schroders, Head of DC Investment at Willis Towers Watson (WTW), Co-Head of DC at BlackRock and CEO of the Atlas Master Trust.

Gary currently has a portfolio of non-executive roles, including being a Trustee, and Chair of the Investment Committee, at now: pensions and working as a Senior Advisor to a number of innovative, scale-up businesses.
