Get a complimentary extra £300 towards your funeral costs

There are different ways to obtain funeral insurance and help to ensure that you don't burden loved ones with extra costs during what will already be a distressing time for them.

If you're buying our Fixed or Increasing Over 50s Life Insurance Plans, you can choose to add the Funeral Benefit Option. This form of funeral cover means that your cash sum is paid directly to our chosen funeral service provider, Dignity, who will add an extra £300 towards your funeral costs with a Dignity Funeral Director.

Your family will be in good hands with Dignity

We’ve teamed up with Dignity, who are one of the UK’s leading providers of funeral services. They have a network of 792 funeral locations across the UK.

  • 743,000 people have taken out a funeral plan with Dignity*
  • In 2016, Dignity conducted 70,700 funerals in the UK*.

When the time comes it only takes one phone call to Dignity to activate the Funeral Benefit Option.  Your family can rely on Dignity to ensure your funeral goes just the way you planned and they will be treated with all the care and compassion they deserve.

How it works

  • If you choose to apply below for the Funeral Benefit Option you are agreeing to use a Dignity Funeral Director to arrange your funeral
  • If you die after the first year, we will pay the cash sum to Dignity. Dignity will then provide an additional contribution of £300 towards your funeral costs if they carry out your funeral
    • If you die within the first year due to an accident, we will pay the cash sum to your estate or Next Of Kin.  If you choose Dignity to carry out the funeral then they will still provide an additional contribution of £300 towards your funeral
    • If you die within the first year for any reason other than an accident, we will refund any premiums paid to your estate or Next Of Kin.  If you choose Dignity to carry out the funeral then they will still provide an additional contribution of £300 towards your funeral
  • If your funeral costs are more than the plan value plus the extra £300 from Dignity, your estate or next of kin will need to pay the difference
  • If your funeral costs are less than the plan value plus the extra £300 from Dignity, the difference will be refunded to your estate or Next of Kin by us
  • If you choose to apply for the Funeral Benefit Option, Dignity will send you a Funeral Benefit Plan holder Pack in the post within 28 days with the full terms and conditions of the Funeral Benefit Option
  • If you change your mind at any time before death and you do not wish to use a Dignity Funeral Director, you will need to notify Dignity. The Funeral Benefit Option, providing the extra £300, will no longer apply and you will continue paying into your Over 50’s plan. This will pay out to your estate on your death. After your death your Next Of Kin have the option to cancel the Funeral Benefit Option if they do not wish to use Dignity. If this happens then the above will still apply
  • You are free to cancel the Funeral Benefit Option at any time during the plan. There will be no cancellation costs incurred. The £300 contribution will be removed and the full cash sum amount will be paid out to your estate on death after one year
