Life Insurance - Second medical opinion
We understand being diagnosed with a condition and subsequently having to make a claim can be a very difficult time. We aim to make this process as stress free as possible and put you first. Therefore, as part of our ongoing commitment to our customers and the service and support we provide, we offer a Second Medical Opinion service.
From 29 June 2015 we have been automatically including the Second Medical Opinion service at no extra cost on our life cover policies. In the event of a terminal illness claim or critical illness claim (if you have chosen to add Critical Illness Cover) the Second Medical Opinion service provides access to a database of Consultant Specialists throughout the UK, allowing a face-to-face consultation with a supporting report which is sent to both you and your GP.
An alternative diagnosis may be used to support your claim. This new diagnosis or information will not be used to reverse an accepted claim decision. Legal & General will contribute up to £300 for the cost of the face to face consultation. In the event the consultation costs more than this, you will need to fund the remaining balance.
To provide you with this service we’ve teamed up with Healix Health Services Ltd, a UK company employing over 90 fully qualified doctors and nurses. They will manage and co-ordinate appointments, the transfer of medical records and billing on your behalf.
