As our MD, Protection and Retail Retirement, James oversees our Annuities, Home Finance, and Group and Retail Protection businesses.
That means helping all four businesses deliver customer-centric products, supported by technological innovation, operational strength and supportive distribution relationships. He’s driven by his strong personal belief in the value that our protection and retirement businesses can bring to our customers and their families throughout their lifelong financial journeys.
Before joining L&G in 2020 as Retail Protection’s Commercial Director, James spent eight years at UNUM UK. He rose through a range of pricing, financial and revenue roles to become its Chief Underwriting Officer. That followed his time at Hannover Life Re and before that Standard Life, where his financial services career began.
James is married, with two children who have left home and two cockapoos who haven’t. In his own time, he enjoys collecting Parkruns. He has a MSc in Epidemiology and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
