Rachel makes sure we stay up to date with and follow all relevant product tax legislation and regulations. She works with business units across the whole of L&G, with a particular focus on Retail and Institutional Retirement ones. She makes sure that they’ve got the right tax processes and controls in place, shares technical advice and manages any HMRC issues. Key to that is her ongoing drive to open up tax and tax compliance by making them easier to understand and more engaging, both within and beyond our organisation.
Over the years, Rachel has moved through a variety of roles within L&G. She’s been with us for her whole career, after joining us in December 1997. For the first half of her time with us, she worked in annuities customer services. She learned the ropes as an Annuity Analyst before rising through various training and technical roles to become an Assistant Product Manager.
That was the springboard for her move into broader product and proposition work. She became an Assistant Product Manager in 2013 and then a Technical and Regulatory Manager in 2017, before moving to her current role at the start of 2025.
Throughout her time at L&G, she’s been deeply committed to serving her customers within the business, so they can better help our customers beyond it.
As well as her decades of experience, Rachel can draw on a range of Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications. They cover financial admin and planning, plus life and pensions customer operations, and financial services products and solutions. She also finds the strong friendships she’s built up across the company an invaluable support.
Rachel hails from Barry but now lives in Cardiff. When she’s not keeping L&G tax compliant, she’s an avid festival goer, loves exploring the UK and beyond in her trusty camper van – and once she’s back home again – is a keen gardener.
