Terms and conditions

Details about the offer

We, Legal & General Assurance Society Limited (L&G) are looking to find people who have an annuity with L&G to participate in our upcoming case study videos which will be featured on our website, newsletter and social media channels with a chance to win a £300 John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card.

Eligible participants should complete an online webform which will ask you to explain how your annuity has helped you in retirement.

To be eligible to participate you must be aged 60 or over, be a resident of England, Wales or mainland Scotland and hold an annuity with L&G.

If you are submitting the webform on behalf of someone else, please confirm that you have their consent to these terms and conditions, or if the individual in question lacks capacity, that their guardian or other person responsible for them has provided consent on their behalf to these terms and conditions.

By submitting a webform, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Notice applicable to this offer which is available at www.legalandgeneral.com/privacy-notice/.

The offer period in which webform responses can be provided is between 23:59 on 12 June 2025 and 23:59 on 26 June 2025.

A panel of judges which will include 1 independent member will review the webform responses to determine which best meet the judging criteria

The judging criteria are:

Does the webform response:

  • feel like an authentic description of life as an L&G annuitant?
  • contain only accurate information regarding L&G annuities?
  • tell an engaging story?
  • display positivity and energy, without feeling artificial?

Following their review against the judging criteria the panel will select the 3 best webform responses (the “Successful Annuitants”)

If you are selected as a Successful Annuitant then you will be sent an email by L&G to the email address provided on the webform response by 30 June 2025 (although we may be in touch before then) to ask you to agree to being filmed for 8 hours.

If you are a Successful Annuitant and have confirmed your agreement to the filming by email then you will be asked to sign a form (the “Release Form”) which will grant L&G permission to publish the video, once filmed, on the L&G website www.legalandgeneral.com, newsletter and social media channels which include, but are not limited to: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

Once you have signed the Release Form, L&G will then contact you by email and telephone (using the details you provided in the webform) to gather additional information: including your address, and to confirm the filming locations, which would either be your home, a place where you like to spend time, or a filming location to be agreed; and arrange for a videographer to visit and film you discussing your L&G annuity.

For any case studies that we film we will need any individuals who appear in the video to sign a Release Form. It is the responsibility of the Successful Annuitant to ensure that all individuals who appear in the video have agreed to the Release Form and the Privacy Notice. Should the individuals featured lack capacity then it is the responsibility of the Successful Annuitant to ensure that the individual’s guardian has agreed to the Release Form and Privacy Notice on their behalf.

By submitting your webform, you are agreeing to grant L&G and its direct or indirect licensees, assignees and agencies a royalty-free, exclusive, worldwide, assignable, sub-licensable and irrevocable licence to publish the video taken and to use it for promotional activity, in any medium whether now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity.

In doing so, you also agree to waive all of your moral rights under section 205 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (“CDPA”) or any broadly equivalent provision under the laws of any jurisdiction, and to waive any right that you may have to inspect and approve a finished product or copy that may be used or the use to which it may be applied. You release us from any claims for remuneration associated with the use of the video. You grant all consents which we may require under the CDPA. You agree that you will not assign the copyright in the video to anyone else or use the video in any manner that would breach our exclusive rights. You agree that the footage may be cut, modified, added to or deleted in whole or in part for the purposes of creating new material.

If you are a Successful Annuitant then the e-gift card will be sent via email, together with details of how to redeem it to the email address provided on the webform within 30 days of  filming, provided you, or anyone else who appears in the film, have not withdrawn your consents supplied in the Release Form(s) before then. Only one £300 John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card will be provided per Successful Annuitant, even if multiple people appear in the film.

The John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card can be spent in their UK stores and online. More details can be found here. The gift card will be valid for one year from issue date. Terms and conditions for using the gift card may apply. No cash alternative is available.

L&G reserves the right to cancel the case studies filming day.

L&G reserves the right to substitute the £300 John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card to an award of equivalent value.

Any decision of L&G as to eligibility to take part in the offer, and the decision of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

L&G accepts no responsibility for any John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card if it is delayed, lost, damaged or does not work for any other reason outside L&G’s control.

L&G reserves the right to delay the offer in the event of circumstances outside its reasonable control, when it considers necessary for it to do so.

L&G reserves the right to not send you the John Lewis and Waitrose e-gift card should L&G discover or have a reasonable suspicion that you are abusing the terms of this offer.

A Successful Annuitant may be asked to take part in non-paid publicity or advertising relating to the offer, which may include having their photograph taken for promotional and press purposes.

By submitting a webform, you agree that if you are a Successful Annuitant, L&G may need to disclose your surname and county of residence to the Advertising Standards Authority or others upon request. If you object to this information being made available, please note your objection in your webform.

By submitting a webform you agree that L&G may contact you using the details provided in the webform to seek permission to publish all or part of your webform response on the L&G website www.legalandgeneral.com, newsletter and social media channels which include, but are not limited to: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, regardless of whether or not you are selected as a Successful Annuitant. If you agree to provide your permission then L&G will contact you again to ask that you sign a Release Form.

L&G reserve an absolute right to amend and/or withdraw any offer at any time.

Employees, officers, agents and advisers of L&G are not eligible to participate in this offer.
