  • a dedicated, independent adviser who’ll take the time to understand your goals
  • a full review of the market, looking at options from different providers to find what suits you best
  • a clear picture of your current investments, showing how they fit with your plans and where you could fine tune them

Savings & investment advice goes beyond picking funds. It helps you build a strategy tailored to your goals, risk tolerance, and tax position. Professional advice can ensure your portfolio is diversified, aligned with your objectives, and reviewed regularly as markets and your circumstances change.

All investments carry some risk, but advice helps you understand what level of risk is appropriate for you. We’ll assess your goals, time horizon, and comfort with market fluctuations, then recommend options that balance growth potential with security.

At the most basic level:

  • Guidance helps you understand your possible financial choices
  • Advice tells you which financial choices are best for you

Our free guide will help you understand the difference between guidance and advice, when you need each of them and how to get the most out of them.

Understanding guidance and advice

It’s never too late to make your money work for you. Even if you’re close to retirement, investing can help preserve and grow your wealth. Advice can guide you on the right approach for your stage of life.

The earlier you start, the more time your money has to grow. Even small amounts invested regularly can make a big difference over time. Advice helps you start smart and stay on track.

There can be many different reasons people start to think about financial advice - from general retirement planning to responding to changes at work, like new jobs, redundancies, imminent retirement or even receiving an inheritance.

It’s a regulatory requirement that financial advisers must be paid through adviser charges, and not through commission or other benefits. The regulation was introduced to help make it easier to understand what the costs of advice are and make it easier to compare advice services, so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not to take advice, and which advice service to choose.
